Oat Enriched Facial Serum
Garden of Wisdom's Oat Enriched Facial Serum combines the healing powers of oats and honey to hydrate, comfort, and calm the skin. Oats have been used across the ages to help soothe itchy, upset skin. Not only do they form a film to help protect skin from dehydration, but they also heal and soften skin, which aids in the lessening of fine lines and wrinkles.
Method of ApplicationThis serum is complementary to our other healing serums:
Use this serum as needed to soothe and heal the affected area. Then use as needed for maintenance. Due to this product having Fermented Oat Extract - also known as Oat Bioferment - it can continue to ferment which lends itself to a fermentation scent. This won't always be present if a batch has just been made. If this is an issue, ask us to scent it please!
Shelf Life and Storage Information for Our Products and Ingredients
Finished Products - generally don't need to be refrigerated as they are preserved, but you can refrigerate them to extend their shelf life. The shelf life for most products is 9-12 months. Vitamin C Serum(s) and VitaResurface products should continually be refrigerated to extend their shelf life.
Sample Sizes - do have a shorter shelf life (generally 3-6 months), and items in jars can dry up quicker than this if the lid is not tightened well enough (Vitamin C Serums - use within 90 days).
Please keep your products out of humidity, heat, direct light and in a dark cabinet when possible:Exfoliating Acid - products have a shelf life of 9-12 months. The only things we don't suggest refrigerating are the Mandelic Acid Serums or Salicylic Acid Serums, as they can crystallize in the refrigerator. If this happens, you can set the product into a hot water bath to see if the crystals will dissolve.
Additional Items That Require Refrigeration and/or Kept in the Dark:Hydrosols and Distillates - remove 1 ounce of hydrosol and add it into a separate, sterilized spray bottle and spritzer. Keep the larger bottle in the refrigerator.
Carrier and Exotic Oils - generally, you can refrigerate all carrier oils, although some very rich oils will solidify. This is fine. All you have to do is take it out, warm it up at room temperature and it should liquefy. If not, set the bottle in a hot water bath and occasionally shake the bottle, which will hopefully turn into a liquid. There are some oils with a super long shelf life, like Coconut Cream and Jojoba Oil.
Refrigeration is not necessary, but it surely won't hurt:Essential Oils - essential oils are best stored in a cool, dark place.
Co2 Extracts - these should continually be refrigerated.
Butters - we suggest refrigerating our "skincare" butters. You can remove
what you need and keep the rest in the fridge.
Clays - keep in a dry, dark place. Shelf life is at least 2 years.
Herbs - all herbs (whole or ground) should be kept in a dark, cool and dry location.
Herbal (liquid) Extracts - these are created using alcohol. The alcohol pulls the constituents (properties) from each herbs - root, trunk, leaves, and flowers. They have a shelf life of 3-5 years. They can be kept in the refrigerator or a dark place.
Other Raw Ingredients - i.e., Sodium PCA, Honeyquat, Oat Beta Glucan, etc.
will all have a different shelf life.

This serum has helped sooth my red skin from overusing harsher products such as retinol. I use it with Ceramide Hydrating Complex Serum and I'm loving the effects.
We're so glad your skin is loving this! Thank you :)
Oat Enriched Facial Serum is a staple product for me as it soothes and heals ANY type of inflammation that arises.
After much research and deliberation, I decided to try using it on my lichen sclerosus. I was astonished to discover that on first application, it was immediately effective at reducing itching, swelling and redness. Over the course of a few weeks I found that I was no longer plagued by those symptoms, and the scabbing that occurs had healed and completely disappeared. If you have lichen sclerosus, then you know that this condition is notorious for being unresponsive to treatment. I saw a dermatologist, an endocrinologist and my PCP. Clobetasol was prescribed which I never used as I consider steroids to be no bueno. I've tried an elimination diet, intermittent fasting, keto, supplements, pre- and probiotics, anti-stress everything and a vast array of topicals. Aloe vera, manuka honey, hydrosols, anti-inflammatory essential oils and carrier oils, and on and on to no avail. I can't tell you how thrilled I am to have finally found something that works, and I hope that my review will encourage others who have lichen sclerosus to give this a try.
I have recently also incorporated Calm and Hydrate Mist as my first treatment step, and then I add a drop or two of Calming Moisture Serum to a pea-sized amount of Oat Enriched Facial Serum and apply that over the mist. I do this twice a day.
I can't thank you enough, GoW!
Thank you so much for this review Holly! It is always lovely to hear when our customers find that special combination of products that really is a blessing to their skin!
I have recommended this serum countless times in all my PD and Rosacea group forums (and no I don't get any perks for doing so). Its just that good and soothing. Im using it now to treat some lingering PD and it soothes all day long~
We're so glad you are loving this serum! Thank you!
First time ordering thru GoW and I'm so happy that I did. I got the .25oz and you get a lot of uses out of that little bottle. I first used after a chemical peel and my skin felt so soothed. I also use whenever my skin gets irritated and a little goes a long way. This also helped with my son's sunburn. Will be re-ordering a larger size so I can have on hand.
Thank you so much for this review!
I first purchased a smaller sample size of this serum, not sure if it would be the product for me. I've had perioral dermatitis-like symptoms for quite some time now - very mild but still present - and can't be on long term antibiotics, so I've been self treating with gentle products. Often when a product is described as "soothing" it's super moisturizing, and that's not really what I need. I just need my skin to calm down, and decrease inflammation. Bring in the magic of oats!
Using a few basic products has kept my skin under control. I pair the Oat Enriched Serum with a zinc-based sunscreen every day, and no longer come home to find a chin full of tiny whiteheads every day, nor do I need to remind myself to not scratch my chin - because my chin isn't itchy! The Oat Enriched Serum seems neither moisturizing nor drying to me, just keeps my skin calm.
In the description it's described as comforting, and I agree. My skin is much happier when I use it. Note that it mentions that oats form a sort-of film to protect the skin, perhaps that is why it's helping my skin to not break out in the tiny whiteheads, as it protects. I wouldn't use actives on top just in case they can't penetrate.
Thank you so much for this review Julie! This is a customer fave :)
