Tepezcohuite Calming & Brightening Serum is a silky botanical serum created to comfort visibly irritated skin while supporting a calmer,
brighter and more even-looking complexion.

Helps soften the appearance of uneven tone

Calms the look of redness and visible irritation

Supports smoother, more comfortable-feeling skin

Leaves an exceptionally silky, non-greasy finish

Tepezcohuite is a traditional Mexican botanical valued for its skin-comforting and antioxidant properties. We pair it with soothing aloe vera,
moisture-binding hyaluronic acid and lightweight silicones to create an elegant serum for skin that looks stressed, uneven or blemish-prone.

Why Tepezcohuite?

Tepezcohuite comes from the root bark of Mimosa tenuiflora. Naturally rich in plant compounds, it helps support the appearance of calmer,
smoother and more balanced skin without relying on an aggressive exfoliating ingredient.
Tepezcohuite gained wider attention after Salma Hayek spoke publicly about this traditional Mexican skincare ingredient.

Best For

Uneven-looking tone, visible redness, post-blemish discoloration, rough texture and skin that appears stressed or easily irritated.

Texture & Finish

A lightweight gel serum with a silky, satin-like finish. It spreads easily, absorbs comfortably and leaves the skin feeling smooth without a
heavy or greasy residue.

How to Use

Apply a thin layer to clean skin once or twice daily. Use after cleansing and toning, before heavier serums, creams or facial oils. During
daytime use, finish with sunscreen.

A Little Wisdom

Consistency matters more than excess. Begin with a small amount and allow the serum to absorb before applying the next step in your
routine. Patch testing is always encouraged, especially for reactive skin.

Shelf Life and Storage Information for Our Products and Ingredients

Finished Products - generally don't need to be refrigerated as they are preserved, but you can refrigerate them to extend their shelf life. The shelf life for most products is 9-12 months. Vitamin C Serum(s) and VitaResurface products should continually be refrigerated to extend their shelf life.
Sample Sizes - do have a shorter shelf life (generally 3-6 months), and items in jars can dry up quicker than this if the lid is not tightened well enough (Vitamin C Serums - use within 90 days).
Please Keep Your Products Out of Humidity, Heat, Direct Light and in a Dark Cabinet When Possible

Exfoliating Acid - products have a shelf life of 9-12 months. The only things we don't suggest refrigerating are the Mandelic Acid Serums or Salicylic Acid Serums, as they can crystallize in the refrigerator. If this happens, you can set the product into a hot water bath to see if the crystals will dissolve.

Additional Items That Require Refrigeration and/or Kept in the Dark

Hydrosols and Distillates - remove 1 ounce of hydrosol and add it to a separate, sterilized spray bottle and spritzer. Keep the larger bottle in the refrigerator.
Carrier and Exotic Oils - generally refrigerate all carrier oils, although some very rich oils will solidify. This is fine. All you have to do is take the oil out, warm it up at room temperature, and it should liquefy. If not, set the bottle in a hot water bath and occasionally shake the bottle, which will hopefully turn into a liquid. Some oils, like coconut cream and jojoba oil, have a super long shelf life.

Refrigeration of The Following Ingredients is Not Necessary, But it Won't hurt

Essential Oils - essential oils are best stored in a cool, dark place.
Co2 Extracts - these should continually be refrigerated.
Butters - we suggest refrigerating our "skincare" butters. You can remove
what you need and keep the rest in the fridge.
Clays - keep in a dry, dark place. Shelf life is at least 2 years.
Herbs All herbs (whole or ground) should be kept in a dark, cool, and dry location.
Herbal (liquid) Extracts are created using grain alcohol. The alcohol pulls the constituents (properties) from each herb, root, trunk, leaf, and flower. They have a shelf life of 3-5 years.
They can be stored in the refrigerator or a dark, dry place.
Other Raw Ingredients - such as Sodium PCA, Honeyquat, Oat Beta Glucan, etc., will all have different shelf lives.

Fantastic product

I have very red and easily irritated skin. This product annihilates the redness overnight. I had been really struggling to find something that helped and this was the only thing that did. It didn't irritate my skin in any way when applied. If there's a moisturizer to match in the future, I volunteer as the guinea pig lol. Thank you for a wonderful product.

Hi Jen!
Thank you for taking the time to write this review. The Tepezcohuite Calming & Brightening Complex has become popular, and for the same reasons, it has helped your skin. We are so happy for you!

This is a Yes!

I received the .25 oz. size to sample this serum because of the description/statements made. I'm using it in conjunction with another GOW product so I'm not truly sure of this serum's affect but I believe it is helping to reduce hyperpigmentation and even skin tone. I really like the way the serum feels on the skin and I'll continue to use it in hope of continued results.

Florence ~ Yes to this Yes!
We’re so happy you’re enjoying the feel of the Tepezcohuite Serum. It’s one of our personal favorites for supporting skin tone and glow. Pairing it with other GOW goodies is a great move, and we’re keeping our fingers crossed for even more visible results as you keep going!
Thank you for giving it a try and sharing your experience ✨

Wonderfully unique serum!

So I had never heard of Tepezcohuite until I saw an article about Salma Hayek. It claims her beauty and lack of aging is due to this particular ingredient, which of course sparked my interest in researching a little more about it. (I have mentioned in other reviews that because I live in the same town as Garden of Wisdom, I have the absolute pleasure of picking up my orders in person).
I love talking with Jen and Markie, they are extremely knowledgeable and always take the time to answers questions or explain things in detail.
I just happened to ask them about tepezcohuite, and it turned out that they have it! I’ve been using it a short time, but I love it! It’s evening out my skin tone in a “glowy” kind of way, smoothing the texture and has completely cleared up my adult acne, which is a huge plus for me!!
It has a silky, satin like feel- It’s not sticky or tacky, and absorbs perfectly! I’m curious to see what the long term results give, but it’s a keeper in my book!!

Kerrie! What a great way to market this! It really is a unique serum.
Thank you to Salma Hyek!
You are such a cool lady and we always love chatting with you as well.
Again, thank you for your enthusiasm.
