Garden of Wisdom's Decadent Oat Enriched Emulsion is a decadent, delightful, healing product that is the perfect soothing product to add to your skincare arsenal. It contains no waxes or emulsifiers that cause the pores to become blocked. Having glutathione makes this gel smell relatively intense, but glutathione is incredibly healing, and we mask the scent gently with an essential oil blend. Oat Beta Glucans are one of the finest ingredients for moisturizing, healing, and helping skin that feels itchy and out of sorts.
Previously called Decadent Oat Enriched Gel/Decadent Oat Enriched Cream
NOTE: This emulsion's high percentage of glutathione makes the smell extremely pungent. There is nothing wrong with the emulsion. The Glutathione will get stronger with time. We do use an essential oil blend with this version of the emulsion. Glutathione is discussed in our Blog and is one of the best antioxidants available and is extraordinarily healing. The color can also change to a beige color due to fermentation of ingredients.
Method of Application Apply about a dime size of this emulsion to clean and prepped skin. Prepped? Cleanse, tone and you're ready to apply. Add moisture to your skin with spring water, a tonic (alcohol free) or a hydrosol. Dot this emulsion around your face and décolleté both morning and night (if needed). If you cleanse in the evening your skin should only need a soft warm and moist washcloth or microfiber cloth to gently wipe your skin in the morning. Now you are prepped for application.
Shelf Life and Storage Information for Our Products and Ingredients
Finished Products - generally don't need to be refrigerated as they are preserved, but you can refrigerate them to extend their shelf life. The shelf life for most products is 9-12 months. Vitamin C Serum(s) and VitaResurface products should continually be refrigerated to extend their shelf life. Sample Sizes - do have a shorter shelf life (generally 3-6 months), and items in jars can dry up quicker than this if the lid is not tightened well enough (Vitamin C Serums - use within 90 days).
Please Keep Your Products Out of Humidity, Heat, Direct Light and in a Dark Cabinet When Possible
Exfoliating Acid - products have a shelf life of 9-12 months. The only things we don't suggest refrigerating are the Mandelic Acid Serums or Salicylic Acid Serums, as they can crystallize in the refrigerator. If this happens, you can set the product into a hot water bath to see if the crystals will dissolve.
Additional Items That Require Refrigeration and/or Kept in the Dark
Hydrosols and Distillates - remove 1 ounce of hydrosol and add it to a separate, sterilized spray bottle and spritzer. Keep the larger bottle in the refrigerator. Carrier and Exotic Oils - generally refrigerate all carrier oils, although some very rich oils will solidify. This is fine. All you have to do is take the oil out, warm it up at room temperature, and it should liquefy. If not, set the bottle in a hot water bath and occasionally shake the bottle, which will hopefully turn into a liquid. Some oils, like coconut cream and jojoba oil, have a super long shelf life.
Refrigeration of The Following Ingredients is Not Necessary, But it Won't hurt
Essential Oils - essential oils are best stored in a cool, dark place. Co2 Extracts - these should continually be refrigerated. Butters - we suggest refrigerating our "skincare" butters. You can remove what you need and keep the rest in the fridge. Clays - keep in a dry, dark place. Shelf life is at least 2 years. Herbs All herbs <i>(whole or ground)</i> should be kept in a dark, cool, and dry location. Herbal (liquid) Extracts are created using grain alcohol. The alcohol pulls the constituents (properties) from each herb, root, trunk, leaf, and flower. They have a shelf life of 3-5 years. They can be stored in the refrigerator or a dark, dry place. Other Raw Ingredients - such as Sodium PCA, Honeyquat, Oat Beta Glucan, etc., will all have different shelf lives.
Spring Water hydrating, natural solvent Oat Beta Glucans healing, anti-aging, anti-irritant, anti-itch, since it can work through the Cellular Lipid Matrix (the matrix of the lipids) lends itself to diminishing the appearance of fine line and wrinkles, excellent moisturizer with film forming moisturizing properties stimulates collagen synthesis (meaning to create a matrix by combining actual dermis properties synergistically) Phospholipid (liposome/soy based) penetration enhancer, which allows the beneficial nutrients into the skin barrier, hydrating Cromoist (hydrolyzed oats) softens the skin creates a film forming a barrier for the skin to retain moisture Glutathione it is the major antioxidant produced by the body. Antioxidants such as Vitamins C and E cannot be made by your body and in fact, could not work properly if glutathione were not present. Our immune systems depend on a steady supply of glutathione. Without it, our immune defenses become weakened. It is important in detoxifying many substances including heavy metals, breakdown products of cigarettes and automobile exhaust, many cancer-causing agents, and a multitude of pollutants and toxins we encounter on a daily basis. The major source of energy produced in our cells is derived from tiny structures called mitochondria. These mitochondria would literally burn up without the presence of glutathione. 4 years later—an update!
I've been using this emulsion for 4 years and legit have fears about what I might do if GoW ever discontinues it. It's so soothing to my red, reactive face, and I suspect the glutathione & the oat beta glucans are actually improving the quality of my skin. I layer it on after Finacea and before oils, and recently I've started using it on my chest as well. (It's done a great job of taking down some inflammation I've been battling.) I've said it once & I'll say it again, GoW—please don't ever stopping making this incredible product!

love this so much but don't get on lips
this is an incredibly healing, soothing, and moisturizing emulsion! I did learn to be careful to avoid getting it too close to my mouth, though--I didn't notice any negative smell, it's a lovely light coconut scent, but when I tasted it on my lips by accident I understood about the glutathione. but when I avoid that, it's an amazing addition to my routine! so many creams break me out but I like to do some semi-heavy exfoliation so having something that soothes and helps keep my barrier going without clogging pores is amazing. thank you GOW!
Oh NO .. that is awful to get a taste of the glutathione! It is such an
amazing ingredient but it really stinks. I was having an IV the other day and
it contained glutathione so I asked if I was going to have stinky pores now lol
She said how do you know it smells? I said we use it in skin care applications!
We had a good laugh. I didn't stink more than usual.

Only Moisurizer that doesnt break me out!
I'm 40 and every single moisturizer I've used has broken me out until this one. It instantly calmed my skin and even made my skin tone better, clearer just by giving it the right moisture it needed. I spent so much time reading about products, checking every ingredient, googling and redditing for hours at a time only to be disappointed and out more$. .I highly recommend getting a consult for the best products for your skin profile. Been using Decadent Oat Enriched Cream since June. My dermatologist, said that my rosacea has improved to the point that she barely detected any redness. I use it as part of my morning and evening routine. And if my skin feels dry during the day, I spray on a hydrating mist and add a dab of Decadent Oat Enriched Cream. Instant moisture that doesn't irritate my sensitive skin.
In my 70yrs still having breakouts, trying EVERYTHING!!! Prescription and over the counter. This is the 1st product I’ve ever used, that really works!! Will definitely reorder and recommend!

i developed rosacea out of nowhere after never really having skin issues before. suddenly my skin was red, bumpy, dry, dehydrated and unbelievably reactive. i tried so many products that were marketed as natural, sensitive-skin friendly or rosacea-safe, and NOTHING worked. every new product seemed to give me a brand-new version of a reaction.
then i had a consultation with jennifer. garden of wisdom offers consultations for new customers, and i cannot recommend doing one enough. jennifer was incredible. she helped me put together a very simple routine using this serum, their soap free cleanser, aloe as a toner and evening primrose oil. she also talked to me about supporting my skin internally, which i really appreciated. it felt like she was looking at the bigger picture instead of just trying to sell me another topical product.
more than that, she was kind, supportive and genuinely gave me hope during a time when i was feeling incredibly discouraged about my skin.
and boy did she deliver.

I got this product last week but finally used it last night. I woke up this morning so delighted that I had to rush to leave a review. This is from someone who barely leaves reviews. I’ve always been texture and hyperpigmentation prone as a person of color. I recently started using tretinoin but even the 0.025% makes my skin flaky and irritates my skin barrier all the time. So I started looking for a gentler retinol option but every product I found had ingredients that will either clog my pores or not work at all till I finally found GOW. I was immediately attracted to the simple ingredients list. I was a bit worried about my skin barrier so last night, I used a moisturizer as a buffer before applying the serum. I woke up to see a radiant skin with my pores looking visibly clearer. This product will forever be a staple in my routine! This and the clear,brighten and prevent serum! Please never discontinue this product.

Doesn't weigh down my hair. Doesn't cause breakouts and instantly smooths. I have coarse thick hair and silicones just give a heavy coat, but this does not. It doesn't feel like I put anything in but smooths and looks moisturized and healthy.
