Why We Chose This New Form of Vitamin C
At Garden of Wisdom, we never add a new ingredient simply because it is trending. Each choice is the result of research, testing, and careful evaluation of how it will perform for real people with real skin concerns. Our decision to introduce Ethyl Ascorbic Acid (7%) came from years of seeing both the promise and the limitations of traditional Vitamin C.

The Story Behind the Formula
Vitamin C is one of the most effective antioxidants in skincare. It can brighten the complexion, help reduce the look of uneven tone, and soften the signs of aging. Yet, the most widely used form, L-ascorbic acid, presents challenges. It oxidizes quickly (at a higher % of strength), which can reduce potency before a bottle is finished. It often requires a low pH to remain stable, which may irritate some skin types. We wanted to create something better. That search led us to Ethyl Ascorbic Acid, a more stable derivative that delivers the benefits of Vitamin C with fewer frustrations.
Why We Believe in Ethyl Ascorbic Acid
The Good
- Stability: Unlike L-ascorbic acid, it does not degrade as rapidly, allowing the serum to remain effective longer
- Comfort: Its gentler nature makes it suitable for a wider range of skin types, including sensitive skin
- Absorption: Its structure enhances penetration, enabling visible results at lower concentrations
- Balance: Provides antioxidant protection and brightening without compromising skin barrier health
The Not-So-Perfect
- Slight stickiness is normal with Vitamin C serums, applying on damp skin helps reduce this sensation
- Visible improvements require regular use over time rather than immediate results
- Pairs best with sunscreen and should be separated from strong actives like retinol in the same routine
- Although it is not pure ascorbic acid, the advantages in stability and tolerance make it practical for everyday use
How To Use
- Apply once daily in the morning or evening (preferably the evening)
- Use on damp skin for easier application and absorption. Let dry completely.
- Always follow with sunscreen during the day
- Avoid pairing directly with retinol in the same routine
