The active ingredient in Chaulmoogra butter is the "chaulmoogric acid". This is oil is recognized for its antimicrobial properties (used specifically against mycobacterium leprae. Used for inflammation of the skin as well as issues such as eczema, psoriasis, bruises, etc.

From Wikipedia: The oil from the seeds of Hydnocarpus wightianus (Chaulmoogra) has been widely used in Indian and Chinese traditional medicine for the treatment of leprosy. It entered early Western medicine in the 19th-century before the era of sulfones and antibiotics for the treatment of several skin diseases and leprosy.
