Saffron Rose Majikal Facial Emulsion is a light, elegant facial emulsion created with rose hydrosol, saffron, ceramides, squalane and soothing aloe vera. Its balanced blend of humectants, emollients and skin-supportive lipids helps soften the skin, reduce the feeling of dryness and support a smoother, more comfortable complexion without the heavy feel of a traditional facial cream.

Delicately scented by its rose and saffron ingredients, this lotion is especially lovely for normal, combination, dehydrated or mature-looking skin that prefers lightweight nourishment.

Why Saffron, Rose and Ceramides?

Saffron gives this lotion its distinctive botanical character. Traditionally treasured as a rare and beautiful botanical, saffron complements formulas created to support a brighter, more vibrant-looking complexion.

Rose hydrosol forms the aromatic, water-based foundation of the lotion. It provides gentle hydration while helping the skin feel refreshed, soft and comfortable.

Ceramides are naturally occurring lipids found within the skin’s protective barrier. Our ceramide complex helps replenish these important lipids, reduce moisture loss and support skin that feels smoother and more resilient.

A Little Family Majik

The name Majikal holds a special piece of Garden of Wisdom history. It was inspired by Markey’s daughter Keile, whose middle name is Majik, named after Magic Johnson. Some formulas carry more than beautiful ingredients. They carry a little family story with them.

Best For

Normal, combination, dehydrated or mature-looking skin that benefits from lightweight hydration, gentle conditioning and added moisture-barrier support.

Skin that is very dry may enjoy this lotion layered over a hydrating serum or paired with a few drops of facial oil.

Texture & Finish

A light, silky facial lotion that spreads easily and absorbs comfortably. It leaves the skin feeling soft and conditioned without a thick, waxy or overly occlusive finish.

How to Use

Apply a small, pea-sized amount to clean fingertips. Gently dab the lotion around the face and neck, then lightly press it into the skin.

For easier application, lightly mist the skin with spring water, mineral water or a favorite hydrosol before applying. Use after water-based serums and before facial oils.

For additional nourishment, blend the lotion with one or two drops of a favorite facial oil in the palm of your hand before applying.

A Little Wisdom

Begin with a small amount. A little of this lotion goes a surprisingly long way. Because the formula contains aromatic rose and saffron ingredients, patch testing is encouraged for especially reactive skin.

Shelf Life and Storage Information for Our Products and Ingredients

Finished Products - generally don't need to be refrigerated as they are preserved, but you can refrigerate them to extend their shelf life. The shelf life for most products is 9-12 months. Vitamin C Serum(s) and VitaResurface products should continually be refrigerated to extend their shelf life.
Sample Sizes - do have a shorter shelf life (generally 3-6 months), and items in jars can dry up quicker than this if the lid is not tightened well enough (Vitamin C Serums - use within 90 days).

Please Keep Your Products Out of Humidity, Heat, Direct Light and in a Dark Cabinet When Possible 

Exfoliating Acid - products have a shelf life of 9-12 months. The only things we don't suggest refrigerating are the Mandelic Acid Serums or Salicylic Acid Serums, as they can crystallize in the refrigerator. If this happens, you can set the product into a hot water bath to see if the crystals will dissolve.

Additional Items That Require Refrigeration and/or Kept in the Dark

Hydrosols and Distillates - remove 1 ounce of hydrosol and add it to a separate, sterilized spray bottle and spritzer. Keep the larger bottle in the refrigerator.
Carrier and Exotic Oils - generally refrigerate all carrier oils, although some very rich oils will solidify. This is fine. All you have to do is take the oil out, warm it up at room temperature, and it should liquefy. If not, set the bottle in a hot water bath and occasionally shake the bottle, which will hopefully turn into a liquid. Some oils, like coconut cream and jojoba oil, have a super long shelf life.    

Refrigeration of The Following Ingredients is Not Necessary, But it Won't hurt

Essential Oils - essential oils are best stored in a cool, dark place.   
Co2 Extracts - these should continually be refrigerated.
Butters - we suggest refrigerating our "skincare" butters. You can remove
what you need and keep the rest in the fridge.
Clays - keep in a dry, dark place. Shelf life is at least 2 years.
Herbs All herbs <i>(whole or ground)</i> should be kept in a dark, cool, and dry location.
Herbal (liquid) Extracts are created using grain alcohol. The alcohol pulls the constituents (properties) from each herb, root, trunk, leaf, and flower. They have a shelf life of 3-5 years.
They can be stored in the refrigerator or a dark, dry place.
Other Raw Ingredients - such as Sodium PCA, Honeyquat, Oat Beta Glucan, etc., will all have different shelf lives.

Shipping Transit Note:
Some customers have asked whether products can be affected by time in transit, especially during warmer months. Our products are formulated and preserved to remain stable during normal shipping times and should not spoil simply from being in transit.

I usually formulate my own skincare with Carrier

I usually formulate my own skincare Serums/Body Butters with Carrier Oils and Nut Butters I, of course, resourse from GOW.
This past summer it became unusually humid in my area. I couldn't stand the feel of oils on my face. I saw this product and thought, Why Not? It seems perfect for nourishing my skin and lightweight enough to get me through the Summer.
Im so glad I tried this! Im an mature woman with sun damaged skin. I have a lot of redness and broken capillaries and hyperpignation.
After 6 weeks use, my friend commented how nice my skin looked and asked if I switched CC CREAM. Lol, Nope, its was just Me in the Flesh, no cosmetics.

Spa experience in a jar

If you love roses, the genuine rose scent of this lotion is simply dreamy! On the face this is a light and gentle moisturizer that is agreeable with my rather uncooperative/reactive facial skin. It is rare for me to find a moisturizer that doesn't burn when my skin is actively flaring yet every single product from GOW that I have tried to date has been quite comfortable. My only regret is not finding GOW sooner.

The best!

I love this lotion. I have extremely sensitive acne prone skin with type 2 rosacea that HATES occlusives and most emollients. Most moisturizers are too thick for my skin and I ends up with breakouts or closed comedones. I've gone through multiple jars of this without any issues. On top of that it seems good and hasn't irritated my skin. I have normal-combo skin that's prone to dehydration and I like adding a few drops of a hydrator like 24 Hour Moisture Serum or Super Hydrating Gel underneath.

Fabulous lotion

I bought this lotion as a sample and had to buy a bigger jar. I have sensitive, dermatitis prone skin and am always very cautious about trying new products. This one is very light and has ingredients that make my skin happy. It isn’t enough moisture for the winter months on it’s own, so I add in an oil based serum I made for my skin. It also smells great and the scent doesn’t linger and feel overwhelming. I will be coming back for this one time and time again!

Beautiful Lotion

I really love this lotion. It has a nice, light texture that absorbs easily into skin. It seems perfect for summer heat but I've been using it during the cold months as the final layer, after hydrosol and an oil blend.
